What is DPM?
DPM (Direct Part Mark): It is a special marking technology, not a barcode standard. It is generally called “direct part marking”. This technology can realize marking directly on the surface of parts without the need for marking carriers such as paper and labels. Mostly QR codes, DataMatrix 2D barcode has become the most commonly used barcode type of DPM code.
DPM “Direct Part Marking”: a fixed part of the product that is identifiable throughout its life cycle and therefore traceable, without causing interference when the product continues to be processed. Direct Part Marking enables permanent part tracking when parts are exposed to adverse or harsh environmental conditions and other marking methods are unavailable. This achieves the purpose of reducing downtime, overhead and costs while improving the efficiency of the enterprise.
The main advantage of DPM code is that it can directly form solid graphics and text on the surface of the part and even have the same lifespan as the part, becoming a fixed part of the product itself, never lost or altered, and will not be lost during the continued processing of the product. Interference is generated so that the product is identifiable throughout its life cycle and therefore traceable.
Things to note when implementing DPM technology
At present, in the life cycle of my country’s modern manufacturing products, including processing, warehousing and logistics, market circulation, user use and even product scrapping, product quality assurance needs to be improved in all aspects.
Informatization means need to be adopted for tracking and tracing, and DPM (direct part marking) technology can be used to realize product identification and achieve tracking and tracing of the entire product life cycle. When manufacturing companies truly implement
When using DPM technology in enterprise production, the following points need to be considered:
> Marking method, location and size, content and information content of the mark;
> Marks that are directly readable by humans;
>The impact of the logo on the product surface;
> When is marking performed during the manufacturing process;
> Integrate marking systems into the production process;
> When the mark is read;
> What kind of reading equipment to choose;
> Reading conditions required for mark reading;
> Numerous details including generation, integration of reading equipment and application systems.
Only by fully recognizing these problems can we make reasonable and effective use of DPM technology to contribute to the construction of enterprise informatization.
The company focuses on industrial automation and image recognition applications, providing a complete set of DPM reading and recognition product technology solutions. Comprehensive range for laser engraving, mechanical dot engraving and inkjet printing
Quick reading can be well applied in the traceability management of product parts. Widely used in quality traceability and product tracking in manufacturing, logistics, food supervision, drug supervision, aerospace, etc.

Generation of DPM code
The generation of DPM codes is called marking. Marking is a special machine that prints, casts or etches symbols directly on parts. It is used to meet the traceability or legal and regulatory requirements of manufacturers and suppliers.
According to the request process, the “permanent” symbol is directly marked on the item or component. There are four main methods: laser etching, machine impact, inkjet printing, and chemical etching.
Laser etching: The advantages of laser etching are: high mark quality, very high mark resolution, non-contact, and permanent.
Machine impact: relatively low initial cost, portable and permanent.
Inkjet printing: Very high speed, low initial cost, non-contact.
Chemical corrosion: low initial cost, does not change the surface of the object, and has nothing to do with size.
DPM code-identification and reading—–DPM scanner and reading terminal
DPM code scanner gun: Also called bar gun, it is specially used to scan DPM code materials and workpieces. Optional USB, serial port, network port and other interfaces are convenient for docking with various manufacturing MENS systems.
DPM code reading terminal: also known as “DPM barcode gun”, it is equipped with Android operating system and equipped with a two-dimensional DPM scanning engine, which can quickly read laser engraving, mechanical dot engraving and inkjet printing. It is widely used in quality traceability and product tracking management links such as manufacturing, logistics, food supervision, drug supervision, aerospace, etc.
